Top Organic Dog Treat Recipes

Sometimes it's nice to make your own dog snacks. There are an abundance of organic dog treat recipes for you to choose from. The most important thing to keep in mind when you cook for a dog is that you never use foods that can harm them. There foods that are commonly eaten by humans can be toxic and fatal for dogs. If you're unsure of an ingredient, check before you use it in a recipe. Chocolate, raisins, and onions are just a few of the foods that dogs cannot eat. Also be sure to choose all natural, organic ingredients when you shop.

Dogs don't need a lot of grains in their diet. Choose a whole grain flour instead of white flour. Add an egg, some applesauce, and a little peanut butter to a bowl. Mix it well. You then drop scoops onto a cookie tray and bake them for around 15 minutes. You're also able make these into no bake cookies by leaving them on waxed paper to set up. Just leave out the egg if you're going to do this.

If you're not in the mood to do a lot of shopping, mixing, and measuring, a super easy treat for your four legged friend uses baby food and chicken. Use a few jars of food, beef and veggies are perfect. Pour them in a bowl, add some cooked chicken and drop them or roll them into snack sized treats. This is a perfect use for leftover chicken. Make sure your baby food is organic.

Holiday cookies baked in fun shapes are a hit with humans. You can make your pooch happy as well by using a cutter in the shape of a bone, or maybe even a cat. Roll out some pooch cookie dough made up of oats, peanut butter, and an egg, cut out shapes and bake them. These also make nice gifts for doggy friends.

Boil chicken and save the broth for treats. Cut up some cooked chicken, and add some broth and a small amount of flour to the bowl. Mix everything together and roll it into balls. These will last for a couple of days and can be given as treats, or added to the animal's regular food.

You can also use this same chicken and broth to create another type of treat. Add cinnamon along with the ingredients from above. Use spoons to drop the dough onto baking sheets. Bake your cookies for around 20 minutes. Begin checking them at 15 minutes. Store these cookies in an airtight container.

During hot weather your pet might like a cold treat, and you can make sure that he or she gets one. Melt some peanut butter in a saucepan. Be sure to use low heat. Add some plain yogurt to the peanut butter and mix it well. Drop spoonfuls of this mixture onto a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Put the pan in the freezer until the snacks are frozen. Store them in a zippered freezer bag inside the freezer.

Save money and ensure that you know exactly what your pet is eating, by making your own treats. You'll feel good knowing that you're giving your canine nutritious snacks, and your pooch will be happy to get every delicious thing that you make.
