It has been several centuries since the practice of taking brunches began. The term originated in Britain where it was coined in 1895. Saturday-night carousers are the ones the meals were meant for. These two are the earliest individuals to try and give a description of this practice in recorded history.

Sundays and holidays are the customary days for brunches in most colleges and hostels. However, brunches may also be served on any other day. Serving is done in the form of buffets or menu-ordered meals. Sometimes, both self-service buffets and menu-ordered meals are provided together in the same facility.

Brunches include several different meals depending on various factors. Among the meals included are fruits, pastries, sausages, ham, eggs, pancakes, and bacon. Mostly, people start with coffee, snacks, fruits and similarly light meals before progressing to heavier meals. The meal is concluded by taking desert or similar meals.

Military dining facilities in Colorado also serve brunches to people. Meals served are very variable. Both lunch and breakfast options of the brunches are available. The time at which the meals are served vary a lot. Generally, however, military dining facilities in Colorado serve their meals from mid mornings to mid-afternoons.

Chinese restaurants worldwide serve dim sum brunches to the public. The brunches comprise of various savory and sweet food items including dumblings and stuffed buns. The food items are prepared in different ways including steaming, baking, and deep frying. A cart is passed around in the restaurant from where people pick small portions of food items they are interested in. As that happens, the kitchen continuously produces fresh meals to be supplied. Dim sum brunches are eaten during mid-afternoons, midday, and mid-mornings.

In Colorado, brunches are prepared and served in hotels and restaurants during special occasions. Such occasions include Easter Sundays, weddings, Mothers Days, Valentine Day, and Christmas. People can walk into the restaurants and eat whatever they want. The price may remain fixed or may differ for each food item included.

Timing and food items incorporated into brunches are the two main factors that make them different from other meals. The value of the meal is often improved by analyzing each food item for nutritional content. After eating, most people feel so often. Some often forego all meals for the rest of the day.
